I don't think it's excellent and there are things I definitely dislike about it, but I think it's entertaining and I like the Jacob Black x Renesmee imprinting thing as a pedophilia analogy.
What frustrates me is when people pick up on analogies like that and then twist them through the filters of their own false virtues to attempt to make some kind of statement amount the thing IRL, even when the analogy is CLEARLY demonstrating a case that is contradictory to the statement they are attempting to make, without even realizing that the virtues that caused them to want to make the statement were false to begin with. That's a LOT of stupid. The better thing to do is laugh, I agree. And most of the time, that's how I feel. Sometimes, that's not enough and I have to complain. In the hope that I might change someone's mind? Not really. Stupidity can cause people who are not otherwise malicious to abuse others - systematically, or even personally. In this case, systematically. The above post was me yelling "UGH" or "OW". The follow-up - "It's not an intelligence thing" - was more of an LOL as I imagined how absurd Stephanie Meyer's narrative would be if Bella was doing "the right thing" by the broken standards espoused by these triggered fans. The point is, neither here nor there do they have the moral authority they pretend to, and a true objective look might reveal an opposite truth to what they desire (Jacob and Renesmee are actually better off for each other and you won't think it's creepy in 10 years when they're no longer subject to your scrutiny and if you want to say their way is still the wrong way for them despite all contrary evidence then you are no friend to them). That follow-up might be of the stuff that changes minds - who knows. It was more carefully thought-out and not motivated by "UGH" but rather "see here: ...." I can't think about many members of my family anymore without feeling... some of the worst sensations I've ever known. There's no LOL as far as that's concerned, and there never will be. Now I've bottomed out and the painful thoughts are coming rapidly and I need to stop writing because everything looks the same. ~ RBL |
