He fails to acknowledge the overriding belief that knowledge of or participation in sexual activity before a certain point, is highly indicative of future psychological hardship, and therefore, rightly dissuaded in the most strict terms possible.
The overarching goal here seems a legitimate and necessary protection of the child, which is definitely without doubt, a treasured, righteous thing to do. If we go deeper, what might cause this psychological hardship resulting from earlier sexual experience? Is it the act itself? Is it the lack of ability to process an interaction which seems to have a "hushed" label to it, and for which other relating experiences are virtually impossible to come by for the purpose of group processing and conclusion? In other words, said act is illegal, and therefore you cannot relate to others in your own age group without enforced guidance of your personal impressions. Also, asking quite seriously, is it some solidly-based historically proven concept that relations between youth and adults somehow kills the fabric of the society, or of the great empires? Other than possible lower birth rates (already an issue for economic reasons), what might be the root cause of such rabid hatred of intergenerational attractions? (I definitely do not expect an answer from Ian. I am simply inspired toward putting the question out there.) |
