Not sure what the real story is, but it sure matches psychological tenets: repressed sex comes out in various ways. Catholic (leaders) are prohibited from sex. Therefore.... well, you know.
Not sure why sex is prohibited since it's an animal requirement. I don't know if any animal that reproduces asexually. Bacteria and similar, maybe. But are they animals? I forget my basic biology classes.
Of course, wasn't it the Catholic Church that required the laws of physics conform to their understanding of astronomy? Didn't the sun go around the Earth?
