to have a mother who understands or, at least, accepts your girl love; and with whom you still have a loving relationship!

My own mother passed 3 years ago. I still deeply miss her. In the last few years of her life, we were finally becoming close friends. We would talk every day about all sorts of things. However, I'm not sure that she would have ever understood or accepted my love of girls. I believe that it would have eased my isolation immensely to be able to talk with her about it. Alas, that was never to be.
