buuut... most people don't care that much.

going beyond os's and corporate tapping, you can realize by thinking all the way through that privacy no longer exists unless you want to make yourself deliberately invisible... and there are ways to do such a thing, but i certainly don't know them or care to know them.

of course, the illusion of privacy will suffice except for the most paranoid among us.

taking certain measures to limit that which you know about provides peace of mind.

that's all that really matters to me.

for the average user - even a girl-lover - windows isn't going to cause you any real problems or be coming back to bite you or anything like that.

he could probably use default settings windows 10 and never know the difference. that said, i don't know anything about his usage.

i wouldn't do anything extremely illegal on windows, that's for sure.

i wouldn't use windows if you consider actual security to be paramount for a given task.

but if he just needs a computer and is moderately creeped out by potential avenues for surveillance, windows 10 adjusted-for-maximum privacy should be just fine.
