Yeah...

So what happens... they get their freedoms and rights and suddenly pimps and Hollywood make billions from their newfound freedoms? Disney After Dark? Out all night with the drugged out guy with the best car who buys her the most clothes, or the guy in the ice cream truck who buys her the most toys?

The thing is, those are really extreme examples that, if taken literally don't represent the effect that those rights and freedoms would have on the majority of human beings. I don't know what it is about children having freedom of sexual expression that makes it more likely or more okay for an average kid to be "out all night with the drugged out guy". But I recognize the concern about an unwanted cultural change.

Measured against the number of problems it would solve and the amount of suffering that it would spare many people (likely many, many, many people), I doubt that any social change could present a threatening enough con to overcome the most fundamental crux of self-ownership.

I agree with the sentiment with regards to not tossing children into the deep end, 100%.
