There's a lot of topics packed into that post.
The one that confounds me the worst is, what sort of world would we want as the setting for kids to have these rights and freedoms. I look around and see nearly everything being corrupted, the masses led along like sheep, and those who believe things are going in the wrong direction simply not getting heard. So what happens... they get their freedoms and rights and suddenly pimps and Hollywood make billions from their newfound freedoms? Disney After Dark? Out all night with the drugged out guy with the best car who buys her the most clothes, or the guy in the ice cream truck who buys her the most toys? I dunno.. everything gets corrupted and pimped these days, and those who concern themselves with the well-being of others seem to get drowned out by the massive machine and the imposed narrative. Perhaps it's changing. One can hope it's changing. The event horizon seems to loom large. For now, maybe it's an idea to be given a test-run, for kids instilled with a solid moral compass. What constitutes a moral compass? Everything is just relative to some, and there would be automatic arguments even over that. Some of us used to hash it out anyway. We spent a few years and got a few steps. A few miles is all that's left to figure it out. The torch is lying on the side of the road. |
