I empathize with you and I can only say that the suffering is impermanent.

I cannot speak about progress as I do not know which steps you would deem progress but from my point of view things are changing, perhaps slowly but surely. The topic is gaining larger attention and that's a necessary start, even if at first that attention is mostly negative.
