Yes, this is a mutation of the SARS. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)is the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the respiratory illness responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. As described by the US National Institutes of Health, it is the successor to SARS-CoV-1, the virus that caused the 2002–2004 SARS outbreak.

I would imagine that sometime in the next 10 years, we'll have a new coronavirus that will be more difficult to control than this covid-19 currently is. That's the nature of natural selection and survival of the fittest. It's evolution at human speed rather than geologic speed. We see it now with Covid 19 having multiple mutations even after just one year.
