Yes, this is a mutation of the SARS. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)is the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the respiratory illness responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. As described by the US National Institutes of Health, it is the successor to SARS-CoV-1, the virus that caused the 2002–2004 SARS outbreak. I would imagine that sometime in the next 10 years, we'll have a new coronavirus that will be more difficult to control than this covid-19 currently is. That's the nature of natural selection and survival of the fittest. It's evolution at human speed rather than geologic speed.
