The virus like all living beings wants to survive and replicate. High mortality and low incubation affect it negatively. The virus will stay but it does not want to kill us, it just wants more hosts. That is why evolutionary the virus should become milder and more infectious until it ends being a common cold or alike. Hopefully over the next several mutations we will not even need a vaccine (in 2025) as it evolves. That happened before with flu strains and they adapted. We are just unlucky that the virus found a new host in 2019.
