Forgiveness is a non-starter for some who feel they've been wronged in some way, no matter how small.

I agree with this, and in fact, I did forgive Hadjuk. Of course, though I never expect him to be perfect (none of us are, and I know I have my share of faults) it does come with the expectation that he will not frequently do the same thing in the future, otherwise that nullifies the sincerity of an apology. He admitted what was evident, that he was addicted to drugs at the time, which is notorious for changing behavior for the worst. Since that situation changed, he has been cool with me again, so his apology remains honored.
