Bullshit. Lust is a real phenomenon, not something I pulled out of my ass, and it can and does influence thoughts and behavior. That is the concept behind 'sexual urge' Wikipedia says it outright in the very first sentence on their page for sexual desire:

"Sexual desire is a motivational state and an interest in 'sexual objects or activities, or as a wish, need, or drive to seek out sexual objects or to engage in sexual activities'" [emphasis mine]

Urges are a false construct, and a very dangerous one at that. Deciding that we are all puppets who are only partially successful in resisting the pull of unseen forces leads individuals and entire cultures to locate their motives to act outside of themselves.

Nope. Sexual desire can be strong enough that it clouds judgment in ways that allow the one who feels it to justify behaviors he otherwise wouldn't. That does happen, and pretending like it doesn't is the real mysticism going on here. In fact, there is now pretty solid evidence that when we are in a state of arousal we are more likely to find those outside of our orientation attractive (reference), and that's just the tip of the iceberg on the ways sexual arousal affects our thinking.

Lying to people about healthy urges is an old ploy used by religious zealots to try to control the masses by getting them to war with their own feelings and suppress them.

Hmm, so you're not arguing that urges don't exist (you used the word), just that unhealthy ones don't exist? Is that right?
