I'm pinging you here regarding this post http://www.annabelleigh.net/messages/603452.htm of yours. Markie pointed this out to me as evidence that you said it was okay for a man to literally murder a woman who reported him for having CP, and that by reporting him she made a "declaration of war" (your words) that justified him carrying through on the the threat he made to her (i.e., slitting her throat). Before I react, and risk reacting wrong, I feel the need to ask you: were you serious about this? If you weren't, then making such statements for the sake of metaphoric effect can easily be taken wrong, and Markie was right to call you on this, and for complaining that other posters didn't. Let me make this point right here: I do believe what the woman did was wrong, but she didn't deserve to be murdered as a result. She needed to be denounced via the use of words for actions that may or may not have been based upon good but misguided intentions, or outright vindictiveness. I will never support pre-emptive murder, or violence of any kind except in the case of self-defense, or in the case of defending a loved one or someone threatened unjustly who is incapable of defending themselves. Since I respect you and consider you one of my best friends here, I want to give you the opportunity to explain this remark, and make it clear I will not support anything someone says or does simply because they are a friend and/or we are in basic agreement on the issues of contact and youth lib. |
