For a while there it looked like Britain was quite abit more liberal than the US. But I think since the Thatcher days, Britain is closing up fast.

For a while there, it seemed that the far northern european countries where really liberal, but they seem to be closing up fast, but still quite a bit more liberal than either of Britain or the US.

The US is a leader in sexual repression, ranging from sensational sex panics, to more mundane sex ed protests. Since the US has assumed power as the world police, all countries not towing the line are given various carrot and stick incentives.

In the case of Serbia, well, if there is a 'liberal' attitude, it's only because there have been more important things to deal with, like conquering Iraq, and Iran, and anyone else along the road... that such attitudes have gone unadmonished. The US women's movement magazine MS, has carried lurid details of 'rape squads', and the use of 'porn' to fund various militias
in the region...

There has been a joining of hands between certain women's groups and conservatives in the US to implement some of the most draconian laws. In some cases these laws have been found to be unconstitutional in the US, but this has not stopped the same people from going to other countries to ellicit the legislation there. Canada being one such place, as the US women need not learn a different language to continue their retrograd campaign. Likewise for the UK and perhaps Ireland.
