I really can't answer your 'letting go' question, even though my AOA is 5+ and I have loved (and still do) many LGs over the years, until very recently I have not acted on that love, as in I've never before let the girl know that I loved her in anyway other than as a friend of the family or some such. The first and only time I slipped and let a girl know, to my delight and surprise she returned my love, my LGF is now 15 and so far our love is purely a plutonic romantic love and due to both legal and other reasons will remain that way for some time to come. I however do honestly see me loving her as long as she lets me (and probably even after that).

I am sorry that you seem to have had some bad endings to your experiences with GLs and the only thing I can say is that unfortunately in every type of relationship you run into people like that. My dearests wish for you is that you are happy in your current relationship and that it brings you and him joy in each other.
