I think the danger lies in the confusions that may arise due to the different roles of adults and children.

Social roles are created by society. They are not inherent. As I have said in the past, an adult who loves a child gives the child all the advantages that the adult has because the adoring adult becomes an extension of the child's will, and very often children manipulate adults into getting what they want rather than the other way around.

It's a cliche that grandparents spoil their grandchildren, but it's not far from the truth, and I think it's because grandparents must win their grandchildren's favor (as opposed to parents, whom children are pretty much stuck with no matter what.) Oddly, society doesn't seem to overreact to grandparents overindulging grandchildren, even though its obvious that they do this to "manipulate" their grandkids into giving them affection.

MAAs often do the same thing, only society calls it grooming. Even so, though I have indulged children I loved in ways that did not threaten their health or physical well-being (as grandparents occasionally do, giving them too much candy and such), I am considered more dangerous to them simply because I'm sexually attracted to children. Whether I act on my attractions or not doesn't matter to most people--I'm evil simply for having the attractions.
