Now you know better than to repeat the idea that trauma suppresses memory formation.
I think a better explanation is that we all forget an awful lot that we once knew - and much more than we generally acknowledge.
This may be for the best, as these findings suggest ⚠️ ↗. Still, there are degrees of memory and forgetfulness, and different degrees of these are doubtless useful for differing purposes. (These other findings ⚠️ ↗ also suggest that useful and harmful traits are often connected.)
