Would someone like to give me their interpretation

of the painting by Al Parker called 'Mary Vincent and the Convict'?
By 'convict', does Al (the artist) mean 'sex offender' convict? By the way he stares at Mary, in the painting, it could be seen that way. And the fact that she will not look at him, could reinforce that interpretation. But it is also possible that he is, for example, a bank robber or something else. That too could cause Mary to look away like she is.

So then.......What do ya'll say? My guess is that he had committed a hands on offense against someone. And it was most likely a young someone, judging by the look on his face (as well as his posture) as he stares at the young Mary passing. Now of course, in the period that this painting was created, he would have been guilty of more than what would get an MAA in trouble in today's day-in-age.

Okay, enough of my thoughts.
