I think there is an amount of information with regard to this issue such that it can reinforce one view or the other. There seldom is a clear cut case for many situations but some we all tend to agree on which perhaps will form the basic human rights that we would wish for all to have. I think it is quite difficult to step outside of oneself for many issues but for me personally I think I have been able to do this with my attraction and come to a view that makes sense to me. I'll agree that it could be as wrong as opposing views but this is one subject where my mind has almost closed rather than being left open. There are many subjects that I will not voice a definite opinion over other than religion, for which I perceive man-made origins and hence coming with all the frailties and likelihood of being true as are many human endeavours.
