It's generally AGs [Adolescent Girls], rather than LGs, these entrapment officers pose as in chat rooms, but I know what you meant, though it's probably best not to conflate the two for purposes of accuracy :-) However, I don't mean to quibble here, so I will point out how spot on the essence of your post is from this point onwards.
As I have often noted before, our society has a love/hate relationship with sexuality. The government knows that controlling and regulating certain consensual sexual practices results in overall control of human behavior. They justify doing this within a purported "democracy" because, let's face it, our society has a love/hate relationship with the general concept of freedom too. In other words, they love freedom as an idea, and love to boast about how much more of it we allegedly have than all other countries do, but at the same time, they have no problem with oppression of consensual, non-demonstrably harmful behavior or opinions that offend their sensibilities badly enough. In other words, they want freedom of choice and opinion as long as those choices and opinions are popular and approved of by a majority at any given time. They also define "harm" in various twisted ways, e.g., often in moralistic ways rather than in an empirical manner. Our culture also justifies this hypocritical, imbalanced attitude towards freedom by arguing that a form of behavior need not be harmful at all in order to be inherently "wrong," which is the origin of the oft-used (and very idiotic) statement, "lack of harmfulness doesn't necessarily mean lack of wrongfulness." They don't bother to try making logical sense out of that statement, because there isn't any logic to it, just emotion, and it has long been known that unbridled emotion is the archenemy of reason, thoughtfulness, and rationality.
Further, our society is addicted to the concept of "innocence" much as a substance abuser may be addicted to heroin; they can't kick the psychological need for some group of people to personify the conception of "innocence" as a sort of psycho-social counterbalance to the acceptance and alleged embracing of consensual behavior for anyone 18 and over, due to the centuries of "shame" attributed to the enjoyment of sexual activity. As always, the people in society who have the least civil rights are convenient targets for this, since women as a whole now have too many civil rights to be regulated so stringently. Of course, this contradictory behavior still results in some types of attempted social regulation of women's sexuality: Our culture simultaneously tells women that sexual desire is as natural and emotionally healthy for them to feel, express, and act upon as it is for men, but that acting on it with more than a bare minimum of men makes them "sluts" and "whores," and their entire character is judged solely on the basis of how often they choose to have sex with men. How does one reconcile these two very conflicting messages our culture spoon feeds us at the same time, often in the same breath? Note how common it is to hear a woman say, "Yea, I love sex and I think it's totally natural, but I'm not a slut!" Every time I hear a close variation of that from a woman--which is often enough--the first word that goes through my mind is a resounding, "Huh??!!" Would you believe that within the last year I met a young woman (of legal age) who claimed to be bisexual, but she said in all seriousness that she only engages in sexual activity with other women and not men because she is "not a slut." I wish I was making that up! Isn't it interesting that nowadays women can be conditioned into believing that it's only immoral for them to engage in heterosexual relations?
And yes, I have been saying for a long time that AoC laws, and anti-pedo laws in general, are heavily misandrist in nature. In fact, Xavier over at PJ admitted his vehement hatred of men (yes, there are many male misandrists out there!) in interviews. This is based on the biased stereotype, also going back to the Victorian ideology, that males are inherently predatory and selfish, so their sexuality necessarily reflects these traits, whereas females are inherently nurturing and caring, hence the widespread belief that their sexuality must be far more benign and less intense than male sexuality.
