In famous experiments️ ↗ in the 1950s and 1960s, Harry Harlow demonstrated the importance of physical touch to rhesus macaques and even induced autism by means of social isolation - yet our society blithely acts to prevent children from receiving physical touch and frightens parents into keeping their children socially isolated.
His experiments were considered so cruel that they were one cause of the animal rights movement - yet we require human infants to be treated in the same way.
That explains some things....
