Don't you agree that most of these 3rd parties are conditioned that way and once explained rationally that you don't need to worry about us, they won't? (As long as your are trustworthy in their eyes of course - and that is your responsibility anyway to your little (hopefully) partner.)

If she doesn't see you are giving it all up for her, if necessary, then you did something wrong - didn't love her? A little manipulation? Bad on you.

If she sees you, she will fight along your side. It's not grooming, it's preparing for battle. You gotta prepare your friend for a likely attack by antis (no sweetie, not your aunties, those are sweet).

If you lose, well thank you. It is unfortunate that we need martyrs. You will be remembered.
