Another reply I lost yesterday due to technical problems. I will try to remember the way I phrased it at the time.

I don't know who you are, but you are dead on. In fact, adults (men) have often been sentenced to even harsher penalties for sexual relations with a child than if they had murdered a child. It is ludicrous and has even been covered by a brave famous comedian or two.

In other words, the penalties practically encourage murder to keep a child silent, and that is the essence of insanity in a judicial system which claims that the safety of its citizenry is its top priority. Well, sometimes moral standards come before safety, and a few people have to be sacrificed at its altar, sorry. Too bad there is so much other moral decay allowed to take place. I think Dissident said it right, that when it comes to abuse, an entirely different set of standards comes into play for the sexual kind in western society, but especially in the US.

On the other hand, in his defense of mainstreaming homosexuality, he seems to have left out the fact that not so long ago they were completely willing to throw child lovers under the bus in exchange for their own assimilation. I can tell you from personal contacts that when it comes to being gay, there are an awful lot of individuals whose proclivities include or venture off into much younger, often underage, love interests. This has been conveniently swept under the carpet for political maneuverings, but we can see it anyway, with two recent example from Hollywood being Kevin Spacey and Charlie Sheen. (I don't claim to know their guilt or innocence, but the accusations and suspicions are rampant in that world).

I've lately been weighing the differences between assimilation and mere tolerance, which for me is linked to the choice of either adjusting society and culture, or tearing it down completely, which seems to be on the agenda for some groups these days.

I just want to be legally allowed to be mutually committed to who I love most. I don't seem to care anymore if the glances I get are approving or disapproving. I'm willing to be an outcast. A legal one.

Does that make me a Lincoln Log Libertarian? I'm not very good at self-labeling. I think a few others around here seem to be not so great at it either, but I've never raised it as an issue.
