I feel ya, things are different and not really better for it.

Kids are being pursued in the privacy of their own rooms or phone, no longer are kids at risk in public areas.

The risk is two fold, from unknown people with bad intentions and then there is the media marketing that is changing kids into consumers and objects.

While I may not have the history to reflect on as you have, things have indeed changed, for the worse for us and the kids of today.
