The word is an old sailing term

Poop. The weather deck furthest aft on a square rigged ship.

So then, the part of us sailors that would be considered the furthest aft would be where we poop from. I just did a colon cancer test and the instructions used that exact word: "Open package, extract sampler, pee, flush, place paper, poop, collect sample..." (Canadian medicine is so technical.)

Back when we were being chased by lions, tigers, and bears (oh, my) through the savanna bushes, people didn't bother to clean the exit. The lions, tigers, and bears could always find such people from miles away.

Here in North America, we use paper to clean the area but I've always wondered why we don't do as the Europeans do: a bidet.

Can't get one here. :(
