Psychiatrists should only be concerned with epilepsy and its treatment and the like. Anything MEDICAL, which is what a psychiatrist's specialty is, should be their limits.

Psychiatrists are physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders. Because epilepsy is simply a neurological disorder characterized by the over-excitation of neurons and does not entail any particular, enduring psychological symptoms, it does not fall within the province of psychiatry. Instead, neurologists are the medical specialists tasked with treating this disorder.

The problem with psychiatry is that it takes the biomedical approach to the treatment of psychological disorders, despite the fact that these disorders (unlike epilepsy and the like) don't appear to be generated by endogenous biological factors. The biomedical treatment of these disorders is thus inappropriate. This, in addition to psychiatry's harmful conservative political function, is why I feel it should be eliminated altogether.

Depression should only be treated if it becomes a medical issue.

Unfortunately, the dominant treatment modality for depression (i.e., SSRI antidepressants) is ineffectual and also potentially harmful, especially when applied in the long term. Research has demonstrated that antidepressants' efficacy is largely attributable to psychosomatic rather than direct pharmacological effects. Moreover, discontinuation of these medications after long-term use has been linked to a host of unpleasant, lingering symptoms. In my view, nobody should be taking these medications, especially not depressed people, who are already suffering enough.

Hopefully I'm not coming off as argumentative, BTW. This is also just my two cents worth of opinion, haha.
