They almost totally removed bubbles. Some of his scenes seemed added in later I thought after fan backlash which matches some of the rumors about them not liking the idea of a man being in charge of children's welfare. One of the writers for the movie even having posted that children's welfare is a women's only job and men have no business being involved so that tracks.

Then the message of the movie. The original was family over everything. Now that gone toned down. Even with the whole being able to transport to the dorm room by Lilo I'm not a fan of the family message being watered down.

Though at least they kept it a little more faithful to the original movie than some of their recent productions.
