I explain that the artist was one of the last masters of his genre of painting. And that usually he stuck to pictures of warriors, but occasionally he painted pretty ladies. (it was actually a painting of a courtesan, but who am I to explain the concept of a "kept" woman to a nine-year old?)

Who? Who? I'm thinking it must be a Japanese artist.

BTW, I'm Markaba's alternate nick, and I created the design below with the theme of societal oppression in mind. It has the censored Bouguereau I mentioned before.
