Don't look like a desperate stalker dying to be with the girl...

Umm, duh?

If you can't figure that out, you have far too much self-growth to do before you can worry about being around other people.

I wouldn't have bothered to mention such obvious premises. It's sort of like saing "don't masturbate while walking down the street in the modern culture" - too far into the "duh-level obvious" to waste text on.

Your mileage may vary.

Have someone back you up.

Yeah - the girl. 'course, if she doesn't do this on her own, accept it.

It's amazing how it can put someone at ease when they see you giving attention to their little girl...

I've noticed. ;)

Have another child with you.

Umm - I'm not sure that taking my gf flirting is such a good idea - unless she's bi & poly, of course... ;)

~wistfully drifts in memory~...

If you have a son or daughter near the same age...

I don't breed.

Thank you for keeping the board a haven from heterosexist prejudice in the future. It really helps.

Don't lead the child to do dangerous or "bad" things.

Umm, duh?

Seriously, "I started my yf shooting heroin and her mom doesn't like me now"... duh?

For instance, don't play helicopter (or whatever you call it when you hold the girl's hands and twirl around and around) a short time after meeting her.

heh. NOT the best example. Most parents I've met are charmed that you're playing with their child.

An example of a great thing to do is if you're walking on a rocky and slippery beach, to hold the girl's hand to make sure she doesn't slip and hurt herself.

Umm...

...if this isn't genetic instinct to you, you're kicked off my board. :p

Befriend the parents.

Well, don't be rude to them, certainly...

If all you do is pay attention to the child...

...then you've got a great icebreaker to meet the parents. :p In fact, it can lead them to go out of their way to get to know you - which is a good way to make friends. ;)

This can make the girl you've befriended quite jealous, because she'll likely want every second of your attention.

...which means you're letting their daughter down. :p Ever consider, well, not disrespecting her wishes, maybe even including her in the conversation, or going out of your way to interact with two people at once?

...most parents are decent enough that you'll get far more respect for respecting their daughter than disrespecting her, thank God.

That's all I can think of right now. These are things I've found to be true in my fairly short life so far.

Heh.

Perhaps as you'll get older, you'll learn the 'ancient jedi wisdom' - quit trying and just do.

...you're trying waaaayyy too hard. Machievellian machinations pale next to just being yourself 'n acting sanely.

Nice attempt, though, kid. ;) hehehe...

(btw, the 'bitches' in the subject line refer, well, to the pathetic bitches who replied with the whole "not isolating yourself from children 100% is EEEEVVVIIILL." Kinda makes ya wanna just put them - and everyone else - out of their misery for the good of humanity, don't it?)
