I fail at a GM

I had a lunch date earlier today at a restaurant. Right after my date and I get seated a close-by table has what looks like a mom, a son and a daughter sit down. Now I'm not one to try and look at someone I don't know no matter who they are, so I just try and focus on my date. After a while though I thought the daughter, she might have been age 11, was staring at me. So I turn and look at her and she keeps looking at me. How it is to not have shame for staring bless her. So I smile at her briefly because I don't want to creep her out. The last time a random person smiled at me they weren't old enough to be crawling yet, and before that I cannot even remember. If it weren't for the things I have been finding out lately through sites like this I probably would have acted like an ass to her and tried to ignore so I seem like a normal adult asshole like most young people expect. Anyway to the story it was small but sweet we smiled back and forth a few times. She left with her mom and brother before I was done with my date (who thought it was great I smiled back to a "kid"). I would have waved goodbye but she didn't look my way when she left. A few minutes later she comes running back to the table and grabs her little wallet she left on the table. Now if I hadn't been trying to see if I could wave goodbye I might have noticed that wallet and been able to the heroine and return her, her lost valuable and maybe exchange a quick word to hear her voice up close. Not too bad overall but I did fail for more.
