Yes, FTGL, you did entirely the right thing.

Young Kaylee wanted to pet the dog (which, incidentally, I'm sure he enjoyed!), but you were looking out for her safety.

A lot of dogs do like to play-bite - it's the puppy in them, and they seldomn hurt, but just the same, whilst to you and I it's just the dog being affectionate and wanting to play, to a young child it can be frightening, which can then also frighten the dog.

You did exactly what I would have done, bud. I wouldn't leave a young child alone with a dog, either, even if it's the nicest, friendliest dog in the world. The kid might do something to frighten it, and then.. well, we all know the rest.

Your concern for both Kaylee and the dog does you a great deal of credit, and it's exactly that sort of thing that will make you a great mentor to children, and an equally great father one day!

Incidentally, I think that Kaylee's mom saw it the exact same way, from what you've told us. Perhaps you've made a friend there, as well :)

It's rare for people to show that level of concern for others. You are a good lad, you really are.
