Sadly, I too have gone through this.

I was (legally) dating a 16 year old, unfortunately.. she was a little too "out there". She was one of a group of common friends, she would go out, get drunk and was all over people. I told her that if she absolutely insisted on drinking and that I couldn't stop her, do it with me, make sure I am there so nothing happens to her.

She ended up lying to me about things and flat out did not seem to be able to cope with a relationship, getting a "good morning" out of her was a challenge. She told me she loved me, freaked out, took it back and then started to close off to me, I guess she was not ready for such a relationship. (I am around double her age but I do not look it)

I left her, it was rather amicable, then a few days later she went after my best friend, whom at that moment, reciprocated so ceased being my friend. I cut both of them off and didn't speak to them for around 6 months, she has since been in touch with me and she has been very apologetic and expressed that she is sad for what she lost.

I am sad for what I lost, for now, I will never, ever.. date another teen. Although it is legal, I allowed myself to dream, to ignore warning signs and be taken advantage of. It really, really hurt.
