They are capable of consent in the real world

It is just that a few parents (not most and not almost all by far) don't want to give up control over their children's bodies and lives because they have been taught that their children are their property and they have the right to dictate to their children.

To be blunt, any child can say yes or no to anything, including sex. The law might say otherwise but the law also said that white women could not consent to sex with non-white men at one time.

We need to get over this insanity that children are somehow more unable than anyone else to tell someone when someone does something to them against their will. From what I saw as a child, children are actually more likely to report someone for doing something to them that they dislike, sexual or not.
