'Tis true that traditionally the war against "sex trafficking" (mostly just a scarier way to say prostitution) has long been the obsession of certain NGOs both on the right (religious orgs like Focus on the Family, etc.) and left (certain feminist groups). But over the last decade the winds have shifted, and where the left has started to tackle prostitution as more of a social/mental health issue in the same way they are starting to look at drug addiction, the hard right, which currently dominates Washington, have only become more draconian in their approach to these issues. Trump has floated the idea of executing sex offenders, drug dealers, sex traffickers, you name it, and his violent monkey base just eats it up.

Anyway, I have no doubt that this new law is a Republican brainchild, although a depressingly high number of Dems voted for it too. Still, they likely voted more out of fear of being labeled sex trafficking supporters than out of true conviction. Obama went eight years, two with a Dem majority in Congress, and nothing like this was passed. This is Trump's baby, and his "alt-right" dumbasses who are clamoring for pedophile heads are rejoicing. Seriously, I will never understand why anyone at GC would support Trump. He has literally said that he wants to put pedophiles and sex offenders to death and models himself on dictators like Putin. He's the worst combination possible for a leader: stupid and immoral. And a frighteningly high percentage of the American population still supports this douchebag. Welcome to the Idiocracy.
