Their basic facts check out with the Economist, the Guardian in the UK, Le Monde in France, etc. Sure, organizations have spin to them. But not major conspiracies.
Without talking about 9/11 at all, I have to disagree that the internet makes it HARDER to be informed and check facts. There is a reason it is called the information age.
Sure, you can get a wider variety of information than before. Frankly, everyone thinks they are good at thinking critically and weighing complicated evidence, and they're not. People who say interesting things get attention even when their interesting things are false.
