Celebrator in the US at least and most western cultures a child will enter kindergarten at 5 and a half and will complete it at 6 there are exceptions, but here's the basics.
----primary/elementary school----
Kindergarten 5-6
1st grade 6-7
2nd grade 7-8
3rd grade 8-9
----Some districts have an intermediate school and others this is still primary/elementary school age----
4th grade 9-10
5th grade 10-11
6th grade 11-12 *in districts that don't have an intermediate a 6th grader is usually in jr. high/middle
----Jr. High/Middle----
7th grade 12-13
8th grade 13-14
----Sr. High----
9th grade 14-15
10th grade 15-16
11th grade 16-17
12th grade 17-18

Typically if a Sr. High school student liked a middle or primary school student they were a pedo. The exception might be a freshman who has an 8th grade girlfriend. Yet it wouldn't be uncommon for a senior to date a freshman. When I was a Junior I dated a freshman I was 17, she was 14. Nobody ever though that was weird or icky or anything.
