No. I do not see how.
There are big hazards of careless mating - but being overly cautious is also a big hazard. Logically, both girls and their parents should have evolved to be cautious and check for suitability of her mate before mating. Since parents and girls should be watching out for the same interest, just making independent judgment call on how to best achieve it, the judgments should diverge both ways - overprotective parents who are unhappy with daughter´s carelessness and poor choice of mate, or overprotective girls unhappy with a good marriage arranged by the parents.
