Breaking up a relationship with an LG

Okay guys. Let's say that for some reason the AOC gets trashed, and people can be with anyone regardless of age or gender. A man and a LG fall in love, and stay together for about a year. Then there's a breakup.
The relationship is over.

Now what would be a reason for a breakup if there were no societal factors, i.e. the law or parents having absolutely nothing to do with it - if possible? I ask this because I was talking to one of my guys who can't fathom why a man and a child should be in a relationship. He argued that children can't handle breakups on an emotional level like adults can, which is why he thinks sex with children is wrong (despite his criminal act).

So how could this be?
