Remember John Walsh, who due to his son's, Adam, abduction and death, advocated for missing children and later hosted a program aimed at capturing wanted criminals? Unfortunately, he leaned into anti-CL advocacy during the former, equating us with child molestors. Well, now there's Fraidy Reiss. She was in an abusive arranged marriage from which she left, but was shunned by her Orthodox Jewish community. At first, she advocated against arranged marriages, but now moved onto becoming an advocate against child marriage (Child being defined as under 18, but most cases under 16 here it seems). I can understand banning forced arranged marriages, but not banning child marriage. Once again, children , specifically girls, are having their rights taking away because someone thinks they know better. Never mind, that child marriages have been going on for centuries and is likely responsible for most of us being here, including her. So far, she's managed to get child marriage banned in Delaware and now New Jersey. She'll think she's on a roll and continue onto more states. All the while saying to herself, it's for the children.
C.S. Lewis was right
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences."
Shaper of Worlds
We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamer of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems.
