Pre-existing scales

Hi Cangee,

Thanks for raising your concerns. Most of the items we present in the surveys are from pre-existing measures, including the one that you identified in your post. What this means is that other researchers created a set of items and response options, then went out an validated the measure using those items as a cohesive whole. For our surveys, we selected a number of measures that were already in existence and used in previous studies by other researchers.

This unfortunately means that we cannot change items like the one you identified, as this would change the nature of the measure, which has been validated. I know it seems like a very small thing to change wording, but in psychological research, keeping item wording the same is important.

However, even though this items seems like a catch-22 kind of question, it's not and won't be interpreted as such.
