Well, because the girl can get a disease or pregnant, outcomes that may limit her possibilities for the rest of her life. And the other situation (being too hard to get) seems pretty ridiculous, it's not some kind of obligation for people to marry or have sex if they don't feel the need to, and if they don't feel comfortable with someone there's no reason to stay with a certain person.

Plus there's a lot of guys who just want their chance to "score" without really caring of a certain girl, maybe manipulating her emotions only for sex. And girls aren't really taugh to deal with that, after all, disney romances always have a happy ending.
