Sometimes people do change their minds about what they want.

Sometimes they're conflicted and want incompatible things.

This is very common among people trying out new stuff and new roles for the first time.

In my experience Beatrice ( about 15yrs old here ) wanted me to be her BF. Other times she wanted me to be her friend. ( Particularly when she was upset about her family.)

When I was married this happened too. Nobody redefined the relationship or its goals. But there were times it was one thing, and times where it became something else.

Hopefully you'll know the girl well enough to know where her heart is at when she "changes her mind."

If she's really just messin' wit' ya, get the heck away; 'cause such dishonesty will probably manifest itself elsewhere in the relationship.

The tricky part is initial flirtation. You don't know her at that point. And methinks that either party should be able to back-off before taking it further.

Oh well......
