I watched this last night, was kind of disappointed by it, mainly because it just was not a lot more than a pretty boring bio-pic, but also as I was left wondering - when Milk generalises about the "us-es" of the world towards the end of the movie, giving the us-es of the world hope ... are we an Us?

A lot has been said about the sad similarities in the movie to the whole recent Prop 8 thing. If homosexuals are *still* having problems being accepted, just how audacious can *our* hopes of acceptance be, lol?

Another thing that struck me: I've always been one to look back at the whole gay rights struggle as a kind of paradigm for how "we" might go about becoming more accepted. But watching this movie, I realised, one thing they always had in their marches and protests etc was: both partners were marching. Will many of us even *have* a LG to take along to a rally when the revolution begins? Will the LGs be allowed to come, lol? It kind of brought home to me that before we do anything of the kind, we've really got to focus on children's rights so that the girls (and boys, let's be inclusive here) who *might* be on our side will even be able to have an opinion on the matter that is heard.

Anyway, that probably all came out in a mess, but I hardly ever say anything so umm ... discuss? hehe ... while I'm here and posting ... Merry Christmas everyone!
