An Introduction

Thought I'd introduce myself. I've been lurking a few weeks,
and like what I've seen. I greatly enjoyed A.P.'s web site
"The Human Face of Pedophilia", though it took some doing
to get my older browser to read the content. I note that A.P.,
like many other posters here, and myself, is deeply familiar
with Fundamentalist and/or Evangelical Christianity,
but I like A.P.'s attitude towards them. I think they're idiots,
but I know enough of them to know that at least some of them
do genuinely act out of love - and in any case, some Christian ideas,
especially the ones ignored by Christians (in this case,
"Love your enemies"), are rather good.

I grew up in an Evangelical household, attended both
public and Christian schools (though one was Episcopalian,
so my parents wouldn't think it really counts as Christian),
and generally know that community pretty well. I never did
fit in all that well, despite being rather good at doing
all the things they said good Christians are supposed to do,
as I was never too willing to ignore my brain entirely
in order to believe things that were obviously false.
I'm now an atheist/agnostic (though as you can see from my nick,
a fan of Norse mythology).

Despite this start that was disadvantageous in many ways,
I consider myself to be pretty psychologically healthy now,
and generally well-adjusted - though those around me
might describe me differently, especially as a loner.
(I'm not really a loner - I just don't suffer fools gladly,
and that leaves me with few prospects for friendship.)

I am going to post some commentaries in separate posts,
so as not to overburden you all at once, and to allow
separate posts for separate subjects.
