First off, just because a girl was able to be promised in marriage at 12 and a 1/2 does not mean all of them were; I very much doubt that was the case. This is interesting though because it is precedent for age of consent, except that the father has a lot more say in the matter than in modern situation. So, there is no reason to automatically assume Mary, if she existed at all (and that's a big if in my book), had to have been around this age when she was married. Secondly, it also stretches credulity that, if she did marry at that age, she was impregnated soon after. That's not even getting into the metaphysical aspects of God impregnating Mary. The whole thing just sounds absurdly unlikely to me.
