Despite proofs that the very brain maturity which "justifies" nullification doesn't finish until 25, we will never see it set at 25 and you know it.

Yeah, but... the maturation that happens from, say, 16-25 is MUCH less significant than the maturation that happens from, say, 3-16.

Dante, you also frequently use this argument that if a +18yo parent ought to be able to nullify the consent of a -18yo child, then a 50yo parent ought to be able to nullify the consent of a +18yo child... but how much brain maturation happens between the ages of 18 and 50? Remember - it's not about knoweldge and experience, it's about the brain reaching a certain stage of development.

Hmm....

I the more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that the Age of Consent should exist in most cultures, but that if someone is able to pass a test measuring their knowledge of sex and their emotional maturity, the Age of Consent law should not pertain to them...

Parents also shouldn't be able to nullify the consent of a child who has passed this test.

My view about how much control parents should have over their kids in this context is beginning to shift. I think a child ought to be able to obtain the legal ability to consent to sex if they can prove they know enough about it.

It prevents the abuse/exploitation that might occur without an Age of Consent, but it would also reduce prosecution of pedophiles for victimless crimes.
